Happy Birthday Wyatt
To my son,
I remember the day we found out we were having you; what a joy! I am so proud of you and all the ways that you are growing and learning.
I pray that God will give you so many more years of happiness and wisdom.
I love you,
Daddy
Evening at the Cates
We have had Soren and Parker today and we have had a fun day. Parker went to the appliance store with Pops this morning to parts to fix the ice maker. We replaced parts but still no ice. While out Parker heard the train so we found it and drove by the engine for 2 or 3 miles. Parker liked that. We proceeded to the car wash to wash the truck. A lot of good that did.......after a $20 car wash it is now really dirty from the drive to the Cates farm.
Joe and Kathy fix a real African meal, beans, rice and chicken. We had the hand washing and eating with the right hand only. It is disrespectful to eat with the left hand.....it is assumed that you use you left hand after taking care of business. Bout 8:30 we headed home to feed the two kids, shower them off, spank them and send them to bed.

Mat's Disc Golf
(Disc Golf wedding cake)
Sara beat me to the punch but, yes, I did a write up about my tournament this weekend. I had a blast!
Check it out at:

Pops, the entertainment center looks GREAT...can't wait to check it out in person.
Congrats Zach on a fun weekend of fichin'.
Congrats Sara and Nana about committing to run the Turkey Trot, I will be cheering you on from the sidelines.

Congratulations Mat!
Have you guys read Mat's blog today? He played in a tournament over the weekend and did quite well! Man, I wish our sport paid out like Mat and Zach's. Only the pros make any money in a triathlon. Way to go, Mat! That is really cool. I heard Zach caught some really fat fish this weekend at his tournament...hope you guys had a good time.

Thanksgiving Day
Nana made an executive decision today. She bought some new shoes and now she is all giddy about running. Thanksgiving morning, before all of the cooking begins, we are ALL going to the 40th annual YMCA Turkey Trot. It is a 3 mile fun run/walk designed for ALL ages. That means that Parker all the way up to Granddady can come and join in the fun. I second the motion and I will drag my part of the herd to the event. Now come on, who else is with us?!?

Thank You!
Thank you to everyone that has wished me a happy birthday so far today.
Kara and the kids, in what is becoming a tradition, shoe polished my car. This morning was cool and there was A LOT of dew on the ground and my car so the results were somewhat runny. But I loved it just the same.
First a card with a wonderful picture of my kids from Granny and Grandad with a very generous check. Thanks!
Then a funny card from Pops and Nana with very generous cash. Thanks!
Then the promise of a card from Pete and Sara...I'll believe it when I'm holding it :)
So many cards and so many wonderful gifts from my family. I am so blessed.
My mom called me early this morning and said, “I am so glad I had you. All the huffs and puffs were worth it.”

Pops and Nana sent me a funny card that Parker got a kick out of. (We swear he’s not always naked.)

Happy Birthday Mat
Well, it has officially started. Mat kicks off the birthday run. I hope you have a great birthday, Mat! I decided not to mail birthday cards. Too risky. I have great hopes that we will all be together soon and I will hand deliver them. But, see Mat, I do have your card already...
So far the most votes have come in for a restaurant meal with no kids. But no one responded with any ideas; Denton and Pops and Nana's house or Frisco and Mat and Kara's house. I do not really want to spend a ton of money on food. I will enjoy the fellowship sans the kids no matter what I am eating! So I vote for a normal place, like Carinos or something.
Hope to see you all soon!

Hello everyone. Just a note from Pops....my jet got canceled Monday so I rolled my trip off until Monday the 24th. Maybe if I procrastinate buying my ticket I won't go then either. Your mother (Nana) has decided to become a champion swimmer, biker, runner. She started swimming laps and joined the local swimming hole place. Me....heck no! I just went out to the workshop and resumed painting. I don't think I will ever get that thing finished........so what's the story on the 111 birthday dinner. Let me know when so I won't waste money getting the house clean before the clan hits. OK I'm finished. Oh! By the way granddaddy 2nd place does not cut it!

Happy Grandparent's Day!
I goofed and did not get your cards in the mail on time. You should get them by Tuesday, hopefully. I am sorry! My kids are so lucky to have such awesome grandparents and that comes down the line from my grandparents who are so awesome, also. It is so comforting to know how many people love me and my kids. Thanks for being such a wonderful family, and thank you for showing that love in so many ways.
On another note, 2 things:
1. Are we going to plan a get together to celebrate the 111 birthdays we have this month or do I need to mail the b-day cards as well? I hate to do that because we mailed one to Danna that she never received and one to Pete's brother, as well. They had cash in them and I really do not want to do that again. Also, I want to eat cake.
2. Zach and Jodi, how about an update on the mouse house? I heard the mice are smarter than your average bear...
