climber

Danna sent this to Pops. Only to Pops. Not sure why she can't share with the family, but I thought it was awesome, so I am posting it! She started at the bottom of the mountain (see it WAY down below!) Cool, Danna! Next time share with all of us!

First day

Here are a few pictures I snapped before taking Avery to kindergarten. She had a great first day and we are looking forward to a wonderful year!

OOPS

Okay, I forget that Sheri is also Nana. I (Debra) posted that picture of Maddox. I was babysitting him Saturday and we were out on the deck. I trimmed off some elephant ear stalks that were dieing (dying?). He picked it up and stated "Look Nana! I have an umbrella!" I love that kid.

Look Nana! I have an umbrella!

The Loner in Colorado

I haven't posted anything in a long time...so here is what I have been up to.

Crawfish boil at the end of May was a blast. Ate 180lbs of crawfish plus who knows how many pounds of potatoes, corn, hush puppies, pie, rice crispy treats, and so on. We estimate about 50 people showed up and the cops were NOT called! Our neighbors came and loved every minute. They wonder why we only do it once a year. It will be on again next year and hopefully some of the family can come this time.

I have climbed a few 14ers. The first was snow packed and difficult to get to the top. We didn't have snowshoes so we had to "posthole" to the top in snow that sometimes came up to mid thigh. We had a blast and the dogs loved it too.

My first triathlon was yesterday. I did ok considering I didn't take my training too seriously. There were about 3400 participants which makes it the 4th largest tri in the nation. The open water swim was crazy, but a ton of fun. I think I did well on the bike section, but the run was really difficult for me. Being in wave 22, my transition station was pretty far from everything so my transitions took a while. Over all, it was a success. I finished in 1:45, felt good, and helped raise $100K for breast cancer research. I learned a lot and look forward to bettering my time next year.

I would like to post pictures, but I guess blogger doesn't support bitmap files and I don't know how to change that. So, I guess I'll send out an email with some pictures. Sorry.
